Our Story
A nod to the East Coast
Meet Tim: artisanal woodworker, husband and father of four, and founder of The Cracked Knot.
Born and raised on the rugged eastern shore of Nova Scotia, Tim has a lifelong love for all things natural and handcrafted, inspired by years spent in his father's wood shop.
After moving to Ontario to start a family, annual road trips home to the East Coast continue to serve as inspiration to create pieces to share with family and pass down to future generations.
The Cracked Knot
After losing his full time job in the hospitality industry in early 2020, Tim turned his hobby into a full-time venture in woodworking.
Working from his home in Burlington, ON, Tim's workshop is full of creativity, vision, and sawdust. All creations are made with wood that is locally sourced from family-run mills, reclaimed, or salvaged. He loves to work with short ends, scraps, and the unusual knotty and gnarly limited pieces with natural defects and elements to compliment the end result. Hence, "The Cracked Knot"
